The twenty-eight parrot is mainly found in Western Australia, although does range into South Australia and the South West Northern Territory.
They generally breed from August to February, although in drier inland areas will breed whenever the season permits.
Commonly found around lakes and parks, the ‘28’ has a friendly, yet noisy and inquisitive character and puts on a playful display when they are in a group.
The ‘28’ feeds on a variety of plant foods, blossoms and grasses. The ‘28’ parrot has a tri-syllabic call, sounding like ‘twenty-eight’, as the last note is higher in pitch than the first two.
